caThe Ukrainian side has been trying to establish ties with Republicans in the United States for several months now. Many conservative Americans and Republicans seem to believe that Ukraine is far from being a conservative country, but this is not entirely true. In this article, we will explore what similarities exist between Ukrainian society and Republicans.
Christianity – the foundation of everything
Historically, Republicans in the United States have built their ideology on Christian values. American politicians have a tradition of reading the Bible together and organizing Prayer Breakfasts. Conservatives in the United States advocate for the protection of life from conception, individualism, and the realization of each person. For example, American producer and human rights advocate James Jones is an active participant in the anti-abortion movement.
Recently, I was in the United States and had the opportunity to meet Jason Jones. I was surprised when Jason Jones said that before his first visit to Ukraine, he was convinced that Ukraine was not a conservative country. In fact, Jones’s opinion is a collective image of what some other conservatives and Republicans think about Ukraine. It’s great that Jason Jones visited Ukraine in the summer of 2023 and is now explaining to all Americans that Ukrainian society is also formed around Christian values, which are the basis of its worldview. Jones visited Ukraine as a speaker at the international summit “Ukraine. Life. Dignity. Victory.” organized by the Charitable Foundation of Valentyna Pavsyukova – “Chasha Myloserdia”.

Protection of Life
For Republicans, human life is the highest value. The individual stands at the center of everything. This position is also held by Jason Jones. He is the founder of “The Vulnerable People Project,” which assists people worldwide. Specifically, James Jones has been helping Ukrainians since the full-scale invasion by Russia began.

During the Russian invasion, we Ukrainians have come to understand the value of human life not just in words but in action. We fight for life. Unfortunately, our defenders are dying on the front lines. However, this is a fight for the lives and future of our children, loved ones, and parents. Ukrainians sacrifice their lives to save millions of others. This is not fiction, as the whole world has seen how many lives Russia takes away when it comes with terror.
Free Market Economy
Republicans advocate for a free-market economy with minimal government intervention. In their view, only under conditions of a free market can every individual realize themselves and become wealthy.
Currently, Ukraine is undergoing transformative processes aimed at reducing the role of the state in the economy. Of course, for a post-Soviet country, this is quite challenging, as many officials grew up with socialist ideology. Nevertheless, we continue to work on lifting regulations and reducing government pressure on entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens. Proof of this is the active work of the Ayn Rand Center Ukraine, where I am often invited to give lectures on topics such as free-market economy, Ayn Rand’s philosophy, and the reduction of bureaucracy.
