Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine are agents of the Russian special services. This is the opinion of entrepreneur Yana Matviychuk and Founder&CEO Chalice of Mercy Valentyna Pavsyukova.
The thesis that Ukraine persecutes churches is often heard. In fact, there is no persecution of religion in Ukraine. There is complete freedom of religion in Ukraine. The main religion is Orthodox Christianity. Despite this, there are many other religious denominations in Ukraine and none of them are persecuted.
Currently, there are two separate Orthodox churches in Ukraine – the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (Branch of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine). In Russia, for example, representatives of other religious denominations are persecuted, and priests of the Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate are killed on the occupied territory of Ukraine.
Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine
The problem is that there is a Russian Church in Ukraine called the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Ukrainian special services have repeatedly exposed clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine for being agents of the FSB, having direct contacts with Russian special services and promoting Russian propaganda at masses, calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order. In addition, priests of the Russian Orthodox Church were found with Russian symbols and awards from the Russian special services. The priests kept all this in the churches.
The Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine is a full-fledged agent network of Russia. For example, a cleric of the Russian Church in Ukraine was sentenced to 15 years in prison for treason. The event took place in Sumy region. A Russian priest had direct contact with an FSB agent from Russia. A traitor in a cassock collected data on the number of soldiers in the region and their weapons. Additionally, he transmitted information about heads of local authorities, police, and public activists. In particular, he was interested in their political views and authority among the local population.
In the USA and many other countries, there is a prejudice that Ukraine persecutes churches. Ukraine exposes Russian intelligence networks that spread through the Russian Orthodox Church on the territory of the country.
Yana Matviychuk and Valentina Pavsyukova met in the USA during Ukrainian Week 2024 and debunked myths about the persecution of churches in Ukraine. Learn more in the new video –
