Institute for Cultivating a New Political Elite is Yana Matviychuk’s initiative.
Over more than 30 years of independence, Ukrainians have been unable to remove Soviet-era politicians from power. We continue to witness a cycle where individuals raised within the Soviet system pass down the same ideological frameworks to the younger generation. This model has been parasitic in Ukraine for the past decade.
Now is the time to nurture a new political elite in Ukraine — one that embraces principles aligned with the development of modern Europe and the United States, rather than looking towards the Soviet-Russian system of totalitarianism and socialism.
Institute for politicians. A Vision for Ukraine’s Future
Twenty years of corruption and oligarchic rule deepened the rupture within Ukraine’s economy and political institutions. Nowadays, the country is facing another tremendous challenge: to fight for its sovereignty. When there are huge problems, it usually creates a huge opportunity.
This is a moment of history that strikes Ukraine every now and then a moment when everything could restart: cities, from top to bottom, right to the very foundation of governance. This needs highly trained leaders to protect democracy, fight corruption, and integrate Ukraine into the world democratic community.
That is where the Institute for Training the New Governance and Political Sector of Ukraine comes in. Our mission now is to prepare a new generation of Ukrainian leaders with knowledge, skills, and integrity for the building of a modern, transparent, and effective government.
Why Ukraine Needs This
Ukraine is no longer just a country; it has turned into a symbol of resistance and democracy for the whole world. The more Ukrainians are fighting on the front line for freedom, the more it is an obligation to build a governance system reflecting democratic values, accountability, and justice.
For years, corruption held back Ukraine from advancing with seriousness. Today, there is a singular chance to move away from this troubled past and establish a new standard of governance. The Institute shall contribute to developing leaders, policies, and institutions that will help Ukraine secure its democratic future.
